Claims Made Against Former Partner Diddy Are Addressed by Yung Miami: “That Wasn’t My Experience”

In an exclusive interview, the rapper and presenter of ‘Caresha Please’ opens up about her relationship with the entrepreneur and addresses the allegations against him.

Yung Miami is candid about her experience dating Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Caresha Romeka Brownlee, known as Yung Miami and formerly of City Girls, is set to return to her popular podcast, Caresha Please, on Revolt TV this week. She plans to discuss her experiences over the past few months, particularly in light of Diddy’s legal troubles and controversies. She shared these details ahead of the Season 2 premiere.

“It’s not easy,” she says about finally breaking her silence. “It’s a rollercoaster of emotions.”

Yung Miami was in a relationship with the embattled rapper-mogul and former chairman of Revolt, 54, prior to the release of surveillance footage on May 19, 2016, showing him physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie. He has faced several civil lawsuits in recent months, and his home was searched in March as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.

The rapper expressed that she was “deeply hurt and shocked” after seeing the video of her ex and Cassie, following the revelation of his numerous legal issues last November. She and Diddy parted ways amicably. “That was not my experience at all,” she affirms.

Combs admitted his “disgust” at his actions towards Cassie in a now-deleted social media post. He said, “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you have to do that.”

He continued, “I was f—ed up. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable…I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it, I’m disgusted now.”

Yung Miami also shared that she has experienced violence in a past romantic relationship.

“I’ve been in a toxic relationship before when I was younger,” she says. “In high school, my early 20s, and they’re not healthy. They’re not fun. It’s just I’ve been there, done that, and that’s somewhere I would never want to put myself.”

She continues, “Now, being 30 with two kids, that’s something I don’t condone or tolerate, something that I grew from. That’s why I say that wasn’t my experience with him, because I wouldn’t even put up with that [again].” She adds that she wants to be a good example “of a mother and a woman for my daughter.”

Reflecting on her much-publicized relationship with Diddy, Yung Miami explains, “I met him in his Love era,” referencing another of the mogul’s many nicknames. “He was focused on building love and really locked in on his music and business. I was with him when the world was celebrating him.”

As for what attracted her to him, she says, “I just think that when I met Diddy he was just a man first. He was more into what I wanted to do, and he approached me with a lot of business [ideas]. ‘You should do this. I see this in you.’ So it was more of that for me. He saw more in me than music.”

The couple made their relationship public on the first episode of the show, where Yung Miami interviewed her then-boyfriend and confirmed the rumors that they “go together.”

Back then, “it was just laughs, giggles, and personality,” she recalls. That all changed with the news of multiple allegations against him, but as for what specifically led to their breakup, she says, “sometimes a relationship runs its course. People break up every day, and with everything that happened, I just needed time alone.”

The past few months have given her time to reflect on her actions. Yung Miami regrets insulting and slurring Gina Huynh, who also accused Diddy of abuse, on social media when she spoke out about their relationship.

I’m aware of the things I tweeted towards another woman that, now looking back, I know I shouldn’t have given any energy to,” she says. “Everyone only saw how I responded when I was repeatedly tested. I’m working to make sure I don’t let people take me out of my character, no matter how hard it might be.

She adds, “I don’t ever want to disrespect an entire group of people because one person is pushing to get a reaction out of me. It’s not right, but I am a work in progress and constantly doing the work to become a better version of Caresha.

It’s work she hopes fans will see in the new season of her show.

“This whole thing has broken me and impacted me in such a way, and it was kind of a dark time for me,” she says. “So I just want to stay positive and focus on myself and what’s important to me right now. I always tell myself, ‘stay strong, stay consistent. You are beautiful. You are worthy.’ In life, you always face challenges. But when you fall like it, you pick up, you ride again.”

Season 2 of Caresha Please debuted on Revolt’s app and YouTube channel at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 8.
